“A mind-body alliance is necessary for optimal wellness. A balanced mind-body feels good.”
—Brittany Wallis LMFT-QS, ACSM-EP
Hello, I am Brittany!
I am a health and wellness enthusiast with training in physiological, psychological and counseling practices. I am an ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Florida and Colorado. I completed undergraduate studies at Indiana University, where I obtained a BS in kinesiology with a minor in psychology. A year later, I completed graduate studies as the University of Miami, where I obtained an MS.Ed. in counseling in marriage and family therapy. During the year between, I taught health education and science to middle and high school students at Mater Academy East Charter School.
Over the last decade, I have worked with adolescent, adult and geriatric populations across various therapeutic treatment settings. During this time, my educational background in kinesiology has aided in the conceptualization of mental health issues, and has provided me with the opportunity to develop a program for simultaneously treating mental and physical health in therapy sessions. The outcome of this development is the Mind-Body program.
I established Autonomy Hour to honor the significance of personal autonomy on the lifelong pursuit of optimal wellness. The motivation to seek out therapy is the most significant building block of a new personal foundation and is often the initial catalyst for change. My objective as your therapist is to direct a part of this motivation towards strengthening your mind-body alliance while encouraging growth in personal autonomy for a lifetime of wellness. I enjoying learning new information about wellness practices and sharing articles, podcasts, books, and anything that catches my attention on my blog.
I currently offer online therapeutic services for individuals and families who experience a misalignment of mind-body health and seek a change in resolving psychological, emotional and physical distress. Individual therapy and family therapy are offered via video or phone with the option of adding on Mind-Body services.
I am a Qualified Supervisor for registered mental health counseling and marriage and family therapy interns in Florida. Post-graduate counseling students, who are interested in becoming registered interns for licensure and seeking to make mind-body wellness a part of their therapeutic approach, are encouraged to reach out.
